The Arthritis Center's Infusion Therapy Suite offers intravenous medications to control damage to bones and joints for Rheumatologic conditions. Biological medicines are used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, and they improve the quality of life for many patients. The goal of Infusion Treatment is to reduce pain, improve function, and prevent further tissue and joint damage. The underlying cause often cannot be cured but by controlling the disease, most patients can do the things they want and live a better life with their disease.
The infusion suite is a pleasant and comfortable place, staffed specially trained, experienced nurses and medical assistants, supervised by Steven Baak, MO, board certified Rheumatologist and Christy Schulte, NP, Nick Simpson, NP.
Find Out if Biologics Are Covered by Your Insurer
Biologics are some of the most effective drug treatments available. They can cost between $10,000 and $30,000 a year. Although many insurance plans cover biologics at some level, you usually have to pay a percentage of the cost until you have met your deductible and/or out of pocket. And getting your insurer's approval for the drugs can take time.
Check your individual policy to see if biologics are covered and what your copay is. If it is covered, find out if drug costs apply to your out-of-pocket maximum; most of the time they won’t.
If you are considering switching insurance plans, be sure to find out what the new plan covers before you enroll.
